Marriage Enrichment Resources | A Safe Place
Connecting Matters is a retreat for married couples designed to provide a unique opportunity to take time out to focus on the relationship and offers marriage enrichment resources. It is not aimed at solving marriage problems.
Marriage Enrichment Resources
Marriage enrichment (ME) is about intentional marriages. Marriage is a gift to treasure but often the pressures and burdens of daily life leave this relationship impoverished. The primary aim of these resources is to assist potential leader couples to design and deliver engaging ME events that foster a safe place where married couples can take time out to nurture and strengthen their relationship and grow towards increased intimacy. Safety is created through community building activities, leader couple modelling and designing ME sessions that provide a transformational place where couples can learn, grow and change.
The underlying desire to be a leader couple is usually motivated by loving concern for the well-being of other couples in your community. However, the immediate outcome is the continuing growth of our own relationship, which is, after all, the basis for anything we may wish to offer others. If we hope for commitment by other couples to their marriages, we must first be committed to ours. If we desire other couples to communicate well and solve their problems creatively, it needs to begin with us.

Books
Eating Water, Drinking Soup is a spiritually reflective and psychologically informed book that explores the integration of trauma recovery, emotional healing, and a deeply relational walk with God.
Drawing from over three decades of clinical experience, global trauma work, and personal journeying through pain, Dr. Paula Davis guides readers through a soul-level engagement with their wounds, offering both companionship and transformation.
What if the pain you try to escape is actually trying to speak to you?
Heartache rarely announces itself. It settles quietly into the body, the soul, and the spaces where hope once lived, often long before we have words for it. In Exploring the Roots of Heartache: The Stories Our Pain Is Trying to Tell, Dr Paula Davis invites readers into a deeply personal and compassionate exploration of pain, memory, and healing.
Drawing from her own journey and decades of walking alongside others as a trauma counsellor, she traces how unacknowledged grief, unmet needs, fear, shame, anger, and longing take root beneath the surface of our lives.
After the Breaking: Psychological Trauma and Collective Healing provides counsellors, trainers, and humanitarian practitioners with a trauma-informed, culturally responsive framework for recovery in collective societies.
Moving beyond individualised Western models, the book emphasises relational safety, embodied regulation, and community-based approaches to healing.
